WESLEY ROBERTS has continued his dominance in the men’s freestyle swimming competition at the Pacific Games in Apia, claiming two more medals last night. The 22-year-old made Pacific Games history just two days ago, winning the Cook Islands’ first ever medal in swimming and our first gold medal of the 2019 campaign, after placing first in the final of the men’s 200m freestyle event. At the Samoa Aquatic Centre last night, Roberts placed second in the final of the men's 1500 metre freestyle event. Minutes after the presentation, Roberts competed in the 100m freestyle final where he finished third to claim the bronze medal. Following his first gold medal in the 200 metres freestyle final, Roberts qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan but he will now also compete in the 1500 metres and 100 metre events next year.
