Dear Editor, We have an economy of two halves: the dying economies of the outer islands where people suffer in silence and depend on hand-outs from Rarotonga for their sustenance, and the tourism-led cash economy of Rarotonga, again of two halves, with those who’ve become cashless (mainly of indigenous extraction) and are fleeing the country like refugees and those who remain cash rich (mainly of foreign extraction) and don’t care about indigenous depopulation.
