Dear Editor, It would seem that here in the Cook Islands we have to wait until problems reach critical proportions before we are finally motivated to do something about them with the risk of being punished for our tardiness, losing opportunities, or spending too much.

Dear Editor, Now that the war with ghost writers and smoke signalers appear to be waning, the election has come and gone with government losing the election and regaining the Treasury benches (only in the Cook Islands), the Budget is passed and we again have political stability, people are asking where to now with the Paradise Prosperity Plan (PPP) development scoped by Merchant of Paradise (MOP) for the Pa Enua.

Dear Editor, I read with interest the article on the front page of CINews, which was a “talk up” of pa enua visitors by old acquaintance Ewan Smith of Air Raro, with Roger Malcolm of Atiu and Halatoa Fua of Cook Islands Tourism contributing. The article was headed “Pa Enua visits on the up and up” and quoted Ewan as saying, “Maybe the cost of airfares is not such a factor”.
