Warning: Idiots at work

Thursday 23 May 2019 | Published in Letters to the Editor

I was shocked last night watching the local news and seeing an employee snuck under a car that was hoisted by a forklift so he could position a container to collect flowing liquid from the car that had just been pounded by a pick. It made me think the show should be called “Idiots At Work”.

Thanks for our health services

It is not often that I publicly write to address matters at hand, especially since most letters reflect negative or unacceptable situations. However, most outer islands have many challenges delivering health services.

Public opinion and wishes ignored by govt

Tuesday 21 May 2019 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, I applaud CINews’ announcement in Saturday's issue to conduct a random telephone poll regarding a range of issues government appear to be more interested in “railroading through with little transparency and at any cost”, irrespective of the public's concerns and views.

Sitting days tests integrity

Friday 17 May 2019 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, Over the weekend, a group of friends and I happened to be discussing the Parliamentary debacle of three half sitting days that happened last month. The majority conclusion was that it was disgraceful, and was avoidable.

Dark clouds of meth loom over us

Thursday 16 May 2019 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Meth is a scourge, it has wrecked my family and I have seen the damage it has done to my peer group and friends and colleagues. One sadly took his life at the end of last year and another died prematurely after complications from his addiction and in the end everyone loses.

Under cone of silence

Saturday 11 May 2019 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, Now that the re-sealing of the main road in Muri will shortly be completed, I do hope that the appropriate authorities in government will ensure that the household that has been placing cones on the roadside adjacent to the Muri Food Night Market, in an effort to charge motorists for parking, will be prevented from doing so.

MPs' pay rise is a rort

Friday 10 May 2019 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, Your article “Public vent at MP pay push” was validation of your publication’s Street Poll, where respondents all agreed our MPs are paid too much. The vast majority of our people locally and our Cookies abroad in Aotearoa, Australia and elsewhere would really disagree with deputy prime minister Mark Brown’s claim that our politicians are due more money because “the MPs have not had a pay rise for 14 years”. (“MPs deserve more pay, says Brown”, April 12).
