Dear Editor: The Cook Islands is experiencing a criminal justice crisis, with increased demands to reform the system. While there are demands in all areas--wife beaters, child abusers, drunk drivers, rapists, etc etc, a large number of demands focus on pakalolo (cannabis) reform.

It’s clear to this writer that Trevor Pitt earns his salary as PR man for the Police. He’s explained why it took the Police days to arrest a suspect of an apparent armed property invasion when the victim had identified the suspect to the Police immediately.

Dear Editor, The Police Department continues to offer totally inadequate salaries to the new recruits and I suspect all their existing frontline Police are also in the same position. They need to be paid at least $14 to $15 per hour.
