'Lift your game'

Wednesday 13 March 2013 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, Having just got back from an interminable and frustrating wait in a queue at the Bank of the Cook Islands, I thought I would raise the question: Why is the public subjected to the unending inefficiency of the Bank of the Cook Islands to deal with vehicle registration? If we are not customers of this bank, then why do we have to join the long lines at the bank and waste hours of our own valuable time just to pay a bill and get a receipt and sticker? Why can’t we go to our own bank, or the Post Office or have an online system (that we can actually activate)? Year after year in March the queues at the BCI move forward in inches over hours.

'Taking a real hammering'

Monday 11 March 2013 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, Can someone in government please take the necessary action for the roads which were dug up around Avarua about three weeks ago for a water project to be repaired as soon as possible? With my car taking a real hammering on these torn up roads, how long do these roads need to remain unsealed before the road gang can come in to reseal? My heart goes out to those poor souls in Tupapa who must endure the dangerous dust particles whipped up 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
