Dear Editor, Through your good paper may I kindly seek clarification from the Office of the Public Service Commission as to when their office advertised the post of human resources manager? Correct me if I am wrong but I cannot recall that this post was ever publicly advertised. If not why not?

Dear Editor Nice to see the many concerned citizens writing in about the state of the Muri Lagoon. It has certainly brought attention to the issue which is good.

I am sure the people from Aitutaki are perplexed at the 180 degree turn of their hero PM Puna who has evaded the issue once again, now he has their votes for the next 4 years.

Dear Editor, In response to MP Kiriau Turepu and others like Trevor Pitt condemning why some of us do not sign our letters with our real names.

Dear Editor, Can someone tell me what part of “Show me the money” does Trevor Pitt not understand? He has a formal application from the opposition dated August 2015, he has the Ombudsman telling him to front up, he has a ‘writ’ the first ever to be served by anyone in the Commonwealth and he still won’t tell us where does Puna go? How much money is he spending?

Dear Editor, So your smoke signaller won’t be looking for love at Knickers in a Twist? I am not sure if you know this, but money can’t buy you love, and it is definitely not for sale at my store.

Dear Editor, When a ghost wrote his “Pie in the sky” piece about me in your February 4 Smoke Signals column and alleged that I was bankrupt, he damaged me. Unfortunately our laws do not allow me to sue ghosts, only real people, so I’m hoping you will convince this ghost to become transparent so I can confront him?

Dear Editor, Last Friday evening we drew water from the lagoon to complement that from our reserve tank in a pool filling operation.

Dear Editor, In May last year in a letter to your paper, I predicted that “nothing will be done about the [Aitutaki Sunday] flights because there is no political will to do anything” and while saying that I respected the Prime Minister Henry Puna for running the long-promised referendum. “The politicians have their tails between their legs on this issue”.

Dear Editor, It has been rumoured for months that New Zealand gangs have been scouting Rarotonga to set up a chapter or new HQ. I think we have all seen people walking around at the market and driving around displaying their patches proudly.

Dear Editor, It is interesting to note that the tourism industry is advocating the establishment of a reticulated sewage system [at the cost of the taxpayers] as a solution to the Muri situation.

Dear Editor, What a welcome sight to see the Minister for Agriculture and Environment Kiriau Terepu finally come out of hiding to shed some light on the plight of our land and sea.

Dear Editor, In response to your front page (Wednesday) lambasting of government transparency, and your own individual criticism about plagiarism, I have a few views of my own. My perspectives (unlike yours) are based on working in and with the media – and working outside of the media industry, in the Cook Islands. I didn’t just show up yesterday like you or your unending string of reporters from overseas.

Dear Editor, It was a welcome sight to see someone making some moves to address the Muri Lagoon situation.

Dear Editor, In July 1997, our Government signed the “One China” Policy which provided that the Chinese Government ....”will assist the people of the Cook Islands in full, in the areas of socio-economic and cultural development”.

Dear Editor, I wanted to thank the good Bishop Tutai Pere publicly for improving my married and home life after I read his article last week in Cook Islands News and then, more importantly, read it to my wife. I started by telling my good woman that from now on I would do all the reading and that she would understand why after she had heard what the Bishop had to say about the role of women on earth and indeed in God’s kingdom.

Dear Editor, I have just returned from Muri beach with a few friends and family to ensure that the excavator trial did not proceed.

Dear Editor, It has been said by another and I shall say it again, how many serious allegations and infringements can one government have and get away with? Well it seems in the ‘Crook Islands’ unlimited.

Dear Editor, Don’t sack the DPM yet. Let him dress the Muri lagoon from Avana to Avaavaroa. I believe he is the only one capable of doing the job. He does less talk and walks the hard yards. That’s the problem with us locals, when one of us is successful we spend the rest of our lives trying to drag them down. Good on you DPM. We have a natural disaster to be addressed immediately.
