In response to fishing issues around Penrhyn, I believe people of that island must be in agreement on the many issues regarding development of their harbour, as they have to live with the consequences: These include management of fish numbers for their grandchildren – sustainability and monitoring the fishery are a must.

Recently, a delegation of Ministry of Marine Resources personnel and government dignitaries arrived in the north on a mission to convince the residents of Pae Tokerau that the over-fishing of these waters by these “far-distant foreign fishing nations” and their purse seining vessels, is good for us.
