Small island, big ocean Niue makes its entire EEZ a marine park

In April, Niue, a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean, designated its entire exclusive economic zone — an area about the size of Vietnam — as a multiple-use marine park called Niue Nukutuluea. Forty percent of the park is a no-take marine protected area; a smaller slice is managed by local villages.
