Earlier this week, the writer and spouse were travelling anti-clockwise through Puaikura at dusk and, just before the new asphalt roadway gifted to Tinomana Ariki by the ever-generous Chris Vaile of Triad, two tourists on a motor scooter, in the fading light of the day, tried to swerve to miss one of the uncountable potholes.
