Monday 30: The Tourism Industry Council is hoping its new website will become a focal point for the industry.

Council president Greg Stanaway says the website, still being fully developed, was launched about two months ago.

Creating an informative website for the public and its members was one of the council’s aims set last year.

The council was formed in January 2008, with the aim to get the tourism industry businesses to work together to achieve common goals.

Through the website (www.tourismindustry.co.ck) the council aims to provide important resources to assist members in operating their businesses more efficiently.

Stanaway says there are member’s forums to be used to express views on current issues affecting the industry, news updates and links, and weather information.

He says they hope to provide downloadable copies of legislation on the website, too.

This will help keep members informed about law changes and current issues.

“We want to make this a comprehensive site. We are trying to get industry members to focus, from time to time, on their own website as a way of communicating, receiving industry updates and general news,” says Stanaway.

The website was developed by website developer Kyle Matheson in close partnership with the council executive.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the industry council and getting access to the member’s pages of the new website can contact the council’s treasurer Debbie Moore by calling 21022 or emailing moorejd@oyster.net.ck- HG
