Construction began just over a week ago, with work set to be completed next week.
Minister for the Punanga Nui Market, George Maggie Angene said the water station will cost an estimated $3000 and should be operating in the coming week.
The station will have four taps - two on the roadside and two on the park side.
It is being constructed with iron, timber and concrete.
The station had been six months in the planning, he said.
Maggie said more developments were tagged for the Punanga Nui Market.
The Saturday market has been busier in recent weeks with the gradual return of tourists and Maggie predicts more stallholders will be setting up in the coming months.
