The Cook Islands will host 18 Pacific nations virtually for the Regional Aviation Ministers Meeting today.

The ministers will revise the Pacific’s regional aviation treaty and discuss the impacts of Covid-19.

Recently reinstated Deputy Prime Minister Robert Tapaitau who is also the Minister of Transport will chair the meeting.

Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum and former Cook Islands prime minister, Henry Puna will be a keynote speaker.

Secretary of Transport, John Hosking said it was the second regional Aviation Ministers meeting. The first meeting was held in Papua New Guinea in 2021.

Hosking hoped the meeting would involve networking and collaboration between the ministers.

He said the meeting could help the Cook Islands develop air pathways.
