More incidents of irresponsible behaviour on Rarotonga roads have prompted another reminder to motorists of responsible driving.

Two minor road collisions occurred on Friday last week.

One incident was reported at Panama while the second took place at Tupapa, in the late afternoon.

Later in the weekend, one person, a man aged 31, was arrested and charged with drink driving.

A police spokesman said the motorist was spotted driving erratically early on Saturday evening.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court today.

Another motorist was reported for driving dangerously.

Police also responded to one break-in at Titikaveka, reported Sunday morning.

Two incidents of assault are being followed up, which were among a number of domestic disturbances, as well as noise complaints, reported by police on the weekend.

A fraud complaint received on Thursday last week was followed up by police and an arrest was made on Saturday morning.

A woman is due to appear in court today, on fraud related charges.

Police have also issued warnings to drivers following unnecessary and dangerous risks during peak times on the road.

Congested morning traffic, especially in the Tupapa area on Main Rd has also caused concern.

“If you encounter congestion on the road, be patient,” police spokesman Trevor Pitt said.

“The traffic will ease, if you cause a crash, the traffic will not.

“All drivers should be aware of the need to be careful and considerate, due to the current bridge work.

“Don't be a fool and put yourself and others at risk.”
