Thanks to a huge community effort, work is progressing rapidly on the concrete block building, on which work started just last month.
Watching on as the construction team also worked to finish the blockwork was T&M Heather director and community leader Teariki Heather, who said a concentrated effort could see the hall completed within a week or two.
He said the new hall would come as a welcome replacement for the old one, which was well past its “use by” date and was no longer fit for purpose.
“It’s getting so old that it wasn’t being used much anymore,” he said. “The new one will be a huge improvement.”
