Justice staff member Henry Ahfoo Taripo led the department’s singalongs that were popular with the persons with disabilities who joined in and danced away to the songs.
Ngatuakana Puna from Creative Centre was delighted to unwrap the large Christmas box of presents gifted by the Ministry.
“It’s been so much fun doing activities in the lead up to Christmas, we created a December calendar to get our staff and our families into the Christmas spirit and to share out some positive cheer to our charitable organisations,” said Justice staff member Memory Mills.
“We asked the Creative Centre for a wish list so we could purchase what they wanted and we’re happy we managed to buy headphones, mugs, bowls, plates, flash sticks, pens - things they preferred,” said Mills.
Danny Tixier, Creative Centre’s operations manager, was happy to have the Justice staff visit and sing Christmas carols.
“We like to get up and dance and we have had a good time… and thank you for thinking of us and for the practical gifts that we will use,” he said.
Tixier also added that he is looking forward to the elevator that will be constructed in the Justice building.
“This (elevator) is what we have been pushing for, for a very long time, and it’s good to see you are active in that role … our people with disability should have access to all government buildings,” Tixier said.
In appreciation, the Creative Centre members performed a special item for the ministry staff who showered them with applause.
Mills said: “Our ministry’s social club wants to give back to the community and we’ve all came together to give out some Christmas spirit. This is what Christmas is about, and it’s good to see the joy and smiles on their faces.”
