Free bras for Breast Cancer Awareness
The Cook Islands Football Association women’s development officer Tupou Patia-Brogan and Cook Islands Breast Cancer Foundation board member Mata Pera promote Breast Cancer Awareness for Pink October. 21102101.

In partnership with the Breast Cancer Association, the Cook Islands Family Welfare Association (CIFWA) have on offer free bras for women to pick up today from their office located at Tupapa.

A Bra Day is when a selection of bras is available for all women and girls, “to browse and select a new bra or two or maybe five… for free”.

The Breast Cancer Association and CIFWA would like to thank Dallas Tonkin from Australia and Curves Gym in Kerikeri, New Zealand, for their generous contribution in supplying the lingerie for Cook Islands women since 2013.

Local women and families have also donated bras for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month also known worldwide as ‘Pink October’ – an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer.

During this month, all efforts are devoted to increasing attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease.

Earlier this month, the Cook Islands Football Association (CIFA) festival, named the ‘She Shines Football Festival’, was held to support the cause.

If you would like to donate (clean and good condition) bras, please visit the CIFWA office during working hours.

Visit the CIFWA premises (Opposite the Ministry of Health in Tupapa) from 10am this morning and select a bra of your choice. Pink ribbons are also available for a kind donation.
