Rain has disrupted the Christmas event in past years and due to wet weather yesterday, the organisers were unsure whether to hold the much-anticipated fireworks display.
However, families and children braved the wet conditions to attend the event as soon as the gates opened at 4.30pmn and food vendors continued with their services.
Activities and live entertainment were held indoors with an appearance from Santa later in the evening.
A portion of the funds raised from the Christmas in the Park event will go towards supporting the repair and upgrade of the Punanga Nui Market playground.
