The Cook Islands National Infrastructure Committee is wanting to reach out to the private sector involved in infrastructure.

The Committee is holding a workshop at the Crown Beach Resort this Wednesday,  December 1, the purpose of which is to share the details of the National Infrastructure Investment Plan (NIIP) launched a couple of months ago.

Prime Minister Mark Brown, said at the NIIP launch, “that we need both the public and private sector to work together, to achieve what we have set out in this National Infrastructure Investment Plan.”

In a statement, the chair of the Infrastructure Committee, Michael Henry, said this workshop is key in encouraging both the public and private sectors to work together and said, “the aim of the workshop is to engage with the private sector about the various capital programmes and projects that are in the infrastructure plan and to provide valuable associated information in relation to infrastructure to the private sector.”

Maxine Kokaua, the Secreteriat to the Infrastrcuture Committee said: “It is also a great opportunity for the Committee to share information, including the ins and outs of procurement, including tips about how Government assesses tenders. It’ll also be an opportunity for the sector to tell us what’s important to them in terms of infrastructure projects.”

“The invitation is open to anyone involved in the infrastrcucture sector, directly or indirectly, company representatives, or individuals, including; tradesmen, suppliers of materials, provider of services, for example buyilers, plumbers, electircians, cabinet makers, sign writers, roading companies, building supply companies, engineers, business advisers, lawyers, you name it, if you are involved in infrastructure projects and you are interested in attending, please get a hold of me if you want to learn more.”
