In a statement, BSP Cook Islands country head David Street when launching the new payment authentication service, said: “Our 3D Secure Service allows our BSP VISA Debit Card users to transact safely and securely online.”
The 3D Secure is a security protocol facilitated by VISA and MasterCard, and used by banks worldwide, to authenticate online card transactions, allowing customers to transact online securely using their BSP VISA Debit Card.
This service protects BSP VISA Debit holders against the fraudulent use of their card details to make online purchases.
Street said: “BSP takes privacy and data security seriously and does its best to provide exceptional level of protection for its customers against any fraud and credit card theft.”
“BSP VISA Debit Card fraud occurs when a criminal gains access to your debit card numbers and, in some cases, PIN, to make unauthorised purchase and/or withdraw cash from your account. These transactions can affect any BSP customers due to our larger ATM reach and interchange capabilities,” said Street.
“We encourage all BSP VISA Card users to register for the 3D secure service. In the event you have not registered, you will be allowed 3 online purchases without having to input the “One Time Password” (OTP), after which you will be required to register. Any further transaction attempts will be declined.”
Registering on 3D Secure Service also allows customers to keep track of online purchases, alerts are near real time, and it provides early detection of unauthorised transactions using your card details and controls spending.
BSP Cook Islands launched the 3D secure system to help protect customers from fraud, allowing them to leverage on online payments safely and securely, and gives customers confidence in the bank.
“As a leading bank in the South Pacific, we find convenient ways to make your banking experience flexible and secure.”
