Intent to injure
Taana Metua John was represented by defence lawyer Michelle Tangimama in the Criminal Court at Avarua on Thursday.
Tangimama said she had spoken to the prosecution and sought adjournment for two weeks to get a letter of support from the victims. The police prosecutor said the defendant had been released from custody on a community treatment order which was ongoing.
The matter was adjourned to April 21.
Matter adjourned
Ngatokoa Elikana, who is facing careless driving causing injury and excess blood alcohol charges, is in the process of making reparations of $1000.
Defence lawyer Mark Short asked for the matter to be adjourned to May 26 as he had a copy of a letter from the victim which indicated reparations were being paid.
Short said he would have an update on May 26. He then presented a copy of a payment agreement to Justice of the Peace Tangi Taoro, as it was a voluntary case and not an order.
Short confirmed it was not an order, but an agreement. The matter was adjourned to May 26.
