In the Criminal Court on Friday, Crown lawyer Jamie Crawford said the charge of dangerous driving causing injury would be changed to careless driving causing injury.
Crawford then called for the possession of utensil charge to be dropped.
Tutakiao then entered a not guilty plea to the careless driving causing injury charge.
Defence lawyer Mark Short approached Tutakiao in the dock then entered a guilty plea on his behalf.
Justice Williams accepted the guilty plea.
Short ordered a probation report before making a bail application.
He said Tuakiao, who is in custody awaiting sentencing on other matters, worked on plantations and needed income.
However, police opposed bail on the grounds Tutakiao is facing charges of having unregistered firearms.
A letter from health authorities recommended he stay in custody.
Justice Williams asked for an updated medical report, ordered a probation report and adjourned the matter to February 25.
Tutakiao was remanded in custody.
