Protest march targets purse seine fishing

Mauke resident June Hosking and Andrew Fry from Sydney, Australia with the petition against purse seining in Cook Islands waters which is being circulated around the nation. The petition asks that the Cook Islands government sells no more days for purse seine fi shing from the date of the public meeting on purse seine fi shing held on March 16 this year. It also asks the government to phase out purse seine fi shing in the Cook Islands Exclusive Economic Zone when current commercial fi shing licences expire, and at the latest by March 2016.
