Association president Roland Neururer said their first ride was held on October 26.
“We had a fantastic turnout with over 20 social mountain bikers, ranging from very experienced to first timers and some fit kids who were keen to get involved and have some fun,” Neururer said.
“The group enjoyed a beautiful course lead by the experienced CITAI mountain bikers through the back roads and tracks of Tikioki, taking in the orange plantations and across water intakes. What better way to explore the interior of our beautiful island and at the same time get out in the fresh air doing some exercise.
“The ride was a very social one with people chatting to each other along the way and really enjoying some mountain biking.”
Cook Islands Triathlon partnered with The Edgewater Resort and Spa, who very kindly agreed to match every dollar they raised.
“For every ride, each person gave a gold coin donation towards the cause, which was appreciated.”
After the five-week ride and bush walks, the association presented two $1000 cheques to Ian Karika of Takitumu Conservation Reserve and Reikorangi Ellison of Cook Islands Movember.
Neururer said: “Another hugely successful Movember with $2000 being gifted thanks to the Cook Islands Triathlon members and the very generous support of The Edgewater Resort and Spa.”
