After a successful Cook Islands Games Touch tournament, the Cook Islands Touch Association is all set to hold the last event for 2022.

The association will be holding their annual Boxing Day Tournament on Monday, December 26 at the Ngatangiia field in Muri.

Association president Julz Westrupp said Cook Islands Touch Association will be dedicating this year’s tournament in memory of Ronnie Siulepa, who passed away earlier this month.

“Siulepa founded touch rugby in 1989 where he was president till 1992. He also initiated the Boxing Day Tournament during that time which is still going today,” Westrupp said.

“Therefore we would like to call this the ‘Ronnie Siulepa Boxing Day tournament’.”

Cook Islands Touch will be accepting 12 teams only and “spots are already going fast”.

“Fee is $200 per team but will also offer $150 if the team provides a ref for the day.”

For registrations contact Westrupp on 55055 or Daphne Hosking Brown on 54171.

Teams can register 16 players but only 14 players can play per game.

Great prizes to be won which will be announced on Wednesday, December 21 where the draw will also be provided to all teams This will be done at a technical meeting.

Registrations close Friday, December 16.

“Looking forward to a day of fun, rain or shine and some amazing tries to be witnessed by all. See you on the 7m line!”
