Cook Islands Aquatics Federation has secured timely sponsorship from ANZ Cook Islands.

The funding will help the federation to run a wide range of programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting swimming and athlete development across the Cook Islands.

ANZ’s sponsorship will particularly support the federation’s Swimming in Schools programme.

In a statement, ANZ’s country head for the Cook Islands, Jason Murray, said: “This group do fantastic community work in Rarotonga, particularly with their ‘Swimming in Schools Programme’ which facilitates water safety lessons to schools across Rarotonga and the outer islands.”

“Learning to swim is a lifelong skill and potentially lifesaving. The work they do aligns with our strategy in helping communities thrive and we are proud to be supporting them.”
Cook Islands Aquatics Federation president, Romani Katoa, said: “We’re grateful to ANZ for their support of our Swimming in Schools programme.”

“This funding will help us to hiring qualified swim instructors, purchasing swim equipment, organise school swim events and conduct water safety workshops.
“In the last year approximately 1000 have taken part in our programme and this funding means we’ll be able to continue to offer it to more students this year.”
