Aitutaki swims to success

Aitutaki’s young swimmers challenged expectations, winning 11 medals in their first time at the Kau swimming competition. MELINA ETCHES/24043018
Twelve young primary school swimmers from Aitutaki, showcasing their raw talent, participated for the first time in the Cook Islands Aquatic Federation’s annual Kau competition in Nikao, scooping up 11 medals.
Yesterday, the Years 5 – 8 age group took to the water to compete in the disciplines of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.
Aitutaki’s swimming coach Dani Adendorff is proud of their achievements and delighted that they have come away with 11 medals – one gold, six silver, and four bronze medals.
