Titikaveka tide takes over grassroots finals

Although Cook Islands Football Association (CIFA) staff were skeptical of the weather forecast on Wednesday ahead of the grassroots knock finals at the CIFA complex, a tide of electric blue washed over the complex as parents and supporters of the Titikaveka Teams, turned out in force to cheer on their young prodigies.

The air buzzed with anticipation and excitement, setting the stage for a day filled with high-octane football action.

The tiny titans clash in the Under-6 Mix kicked off with Titikaveka FC squaring off against Puaikura FC. The tiny titans of Titikaveka FC romped home to a resounding 7-1 victory. Each goal was met with roars from the crowd, their cheers echoing the immense pride and thrill of watching these pint-sized players in action.

The Under-8 Mix had a shootout showdown between Titikaveka FC and Matavera-Ngatangiia FC. Locked at 1-1 at the final whistle, the teams faced off in a nail-biting shootout.

Displaying nerves of steel, Titikaveka FC outshot their opponents 5-2, clinching the match with a final tally of 6-3. The spectators held their breath with every kick, their cheers erupting as each ball found the back of the net.

A battle of skills in the Under-10 Mix was on display as Titikaveka FC locked horns with Matavera-Ngatangiia FC, pulling off a 3-1 victory. The children, their faces set with determination, orchestrated some stunning plays that had the crowd on its feet. Every deft pass, every strategic move, and every glorious goal was a testament to these young players’ burgeoning skills.

A showcase of extraordinary talent in the Under-12 Mix saw Nikao Sokattak FC take on Avatiu FC in a thrilling match that ended in a 3-1 victory for Avatiu FC. These pre-teen players exhibited skill levels that hinted at future stardom, their extraordinary talent promising exciting seasons ahead. The crowd was enthralled, watching in awe as these youngsters displayed their prowess on the field.

The day was a rollercoaster ride of emotions filled with intense matches, not just for the young footballers but also for the parents and supporters. Titikaveka FC’s Sea of blue supporters was a vivid testament to the community’s passion for the sport.

The CIFA grassroots finals were not just a celebration of football, but a thrilling spectacle of the promising future these young talents hold.
