The much-awaited 2024 Rarotonga Football Season is just around the corner, set to commence on Wednesday, July 24, at the familiar grounds of the CIFA Complex in Matavera.

Football enthusiasts of all ages are gearing up for another season of camaraderie and competition.

The season will kick off with the eagerness of our Future Stars, showcasing their budding talent in the Under 6 Mix, Under 8 Mix, Under 10 Mix, Under 12 Mix and an Under 18 Men at the CIFA Complex on Wednesday, July 24.

According to Cook Islands Football Association, it’s a chance for these young players to shine and for the community to come together in support.

Six clubs are confirmed for this year’s season, ready to compete across nine divisions.

From the top-tier battles in the Premier Men’s league to the spirited matchups in the Senior Women’s division, the excitement extends to the Under 18 Men, Under 15 Boys, Under 15 Girls, Under 12 Mix, Under 10 Mix, Under 8 Mix, and the youngest athletes in the Under 6 Mix category.

Each game promises a blend of skill and sportsmanship. With divisions designed to accommodate players of various ages and skill levels, there's something for everyone to participate and appreciate.

Allen Parker, CIFA general secretary, said: “As the 2024 Rarotonga Football Season approaches, there's a quiet anticipation building.”

“It’s a time when we all gather, not just for the love of the game, but for the sense of unity it brings to our community. It’s a special moment we all look forward to.”

In the Premier Men’s Championship, the winner of the Round Cup qualifies for the OFC Champions League.

Having been contested on the international stage for several years, this competition provides a significant platform for clubs to showcase their talent. Consequently, this season's champion will represent their respective club and the Cook Islands at the 2025 OFC Champions League competition.

Similarly, in the Senior Women's Championship, the Round Cup winner will qualify for the 2025 OFC Women's Champions League. This will mark the Cook Islands’ second participation in the women’s competition, proudly representing both their club and the nation on this prestigious stage.

“Whether you’re a seasoned supporter or someone looking to enjoy a football match played the local way, this season offers a chance to witness the passion and dedication of local football. Expect some thrilling and exciting football this season,” CIFA said.

“With the stage set and the teams ready, it's almost time to dive into another season of football. So, mark your calendars, invite your family, friends, community, and be part of the excitement as we embark on this journey together. Let's make memories that will last long after the final whistle blows.”
