Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa Maraerenga square off at the CIFA complex this afternoon for the biggest football game of the season, which is expected to produce a nail-biting and competitive battle.

In the Tower Insurance Premiership standings, Tupapa Maraerenga and Nikao Sokattak are equal on points, with the goal difference separating the two teams. Tupapa Maraerenga leads the goal count by 22 goals.

Both sides are strong contenders for the Tower Insurance Round Cup honours, but only one team can claim bragging rights.

Under the guidance of Alex Napa, Nikao’s premier men’s team has continued to prosper, and no doubt will be a handful for Tupapa Maraerenga.

With the steady influence of Grover Harmon in the midfield area and Paavo Mustonen in attack, Tupapa is bound to cause problems for Nikao.

In the other Tower Insurance Premiership match, Matavera-Ngatangiia will host Puaikura at the Takitumu School grounds.

In the Islander Hotel Women’s Championship, Tupapa Maraerenga and Puaikura will need a win against their opponents to keep competition favourites, Avatiu, at bay. Both of these matches will commence at 2:40 pm.

Today’s matches will get underway at 11:15am at both venues, Takitumu School grounds and the CIFA complex, in the Under-15 boys’ division, followed by the Under-14 boys at 1:45pm.
