Football fans can look forward to an action-packed round two in the Rarotonga football competition when Matavera takes on Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa Maraerenga battles Titikaveka today.

Today’s fixtures will feature the U15 Boys, U15 Girls, U18 Men, Senior Women, and Premier Men divisions.

Kicking off the day’s match will be the U15 Boys, who are eager to showcase their skills and the day will end in a high-stakes showdown between the Premier Men teams.

At the Tupapa Field, Tupapa Football club have prepared themselves for an equally exhilarating line-up against Titikaveka’s FC. The two clubs will battle in the U15 Boys, U15 Girls, U18 Men's, Senior Women, and Premier Men divisions.

Football enthusiasts can expect passionate displays of strategy, agility, and talent as both clubs vie for victory in their respective match-ups. As the clock ticks down at each game’s end, supporters will undoubtedly hold their breath until that final whistle blows.

In the other clash, Matavera will host Nikao Sokattak at Takitumu School grounds.

The round two matches started on Wednesday when children from various age groups came together at the Cook Islands Football Association (CIFA) complex to participate in their league games.

Talented youngsters from U8 Mix, U10 Mix, and U12 Mix categories displayed their skills wearing vibrant uniforms while proud parents eagerly cheered on their children from the sidelines, creating an electric atmosphere.

Later in the day, the U18 Men's teams of Puaikura FC and Avatiu FC had a closely fought match. The first half was a tense battle as both teams struggled to dominate possession and neither were able to break through their opponent’s defense. Goalkeepers skillfully upset numerous goal attempts, maintaining a goalless scoreline at halftime.

In the second half both teams fiercely tried to break the deadlock and secure victory for their club. Avatiu gradually gained momentum, managing to take control and were rewarded when Tuakeu Paerau seized an opportunity and scored a decisive goal.

On Thursday, in the Senior Women’s match, reigning champions, Puaikura overcame Avatiu FC in a thrilling match.

The first half displayed a strong battle for possession between the two teams. Puaikura dominated the pitch majority of the time, continually invading their opponents’ territory. However, they struggled to capitalise on this advantage, with several missed shots keeping the scoreline locked at 0-0.

However, Puaikura would not give up and in the second half, their turning point came when Ngamata Moekaa scored a spectacular goal within mere seconds of kickoff.

Avatiu FC did their best to even up the scoreboard. They launched a series of spirited attacks and attempted to stifle Puaikura’s offense. However, as time ticked down and the final whistle approached, it became clear that leveling out would be an uphill task.

Puaikura emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win.
