The youngsters defied wet weather conditions to battle it out on field for trophies in four mixed grades.
Tupapa Maraerenga were on fire taking three out of four Knockout Cup titles. In the Under-6 Mix, Tupapa battled Puaikura and proved too strong winning 3-0.
In the U8 Mix, Titikaveka’s boys in blue played Round Cup champs Matavera. Both sides had supporters cheering them on as the match swayed back and forth for a goal.
Eventually Titikaveka proved too quick, snatching away the Knockout Cup trophy with a 7-6 win.
Avatiu and Tupapa Maraerenga faced each other in the U10 and U12 Mix finals.
Despite the wind and wet conditions, the two teams gave their all for win in the fiercely contested grades. After an intense battle, Tupapa emerged victorious 4-3.
Tupapa’s U12 Mix secured their first goal and maintained the slender lead against Avatiu’s relentless effort for an equaliser, to win 1-0.
A long hard battle was played in these divisions, soaked and tired these youngsters got through it and made the most of what they could.
The youth and senior divisions will have their turn at glory playing at CIFA Complex tomorrow.
Cook Islands Football Association’s Pauline Dean said: “It was another exciting season for all clubs, especially those who took it to the last game of the round to determine the winner! Congratulations to those clubs who won the Round Cup in each of the respective divisions and to those who will feature in this weekend’s CIFA Knockout Cup Final.”
