The tournament featured Papaaroa, Titikaveka, Imanuela and Te Uki Ou teams in the U13 boys and girl’s divisions.
In the girl’s division, Te Uki Ou finished on top followed by Titikaveka in second placed, Papaaroa third and Imanuela in fourth place.
In the boy’s division, Imanuela was placed top followed by runner up Te Uki Ou, Papaaroa in third place and Titikaveka finishing fourth.
Cook Islands Rugby Union development manager Ben Koteka said: “On an overcast but fine day all four Vaka-Takitumu schools Te Uki Ou, Imanuela, Titikaveka and Papaaroa, assembled at Titikaveka Rugby Field to play in the 2024 U13 Quick Rip Tournament for Boys & Girls.”
“After round-robin competition format the final results saw Imanuela Akatemia win the boys, division while Te Uki Ou won the dirls division.
“It was a wonderful event played in good spirits amongst our Vaka Takitumu primary school students and on a well-prepared venue too.”
Koteka thanked everyone who made the event possible and a success.
“Thank you to everyone for the wonderful event; to our Heavenly Father for blessing us with a beautiful day, the schools, sponsors – Moana Sands, Maii Cafe, Kayne Matapo, Te Marae Ora, venue hosts Titikaveka Rugby Club, referees’ and admin helpers/scorers – each and every one of you just as important as the other.”
The most valuable player awards went to Te Uki Ou’s Ava Herman-Fua and Maeva Browne.
