The last time these two teams met, the Panthers won 32-0.
CIRU’s Ben Koteka said it was a flattering final result that didn’t give credit to a spirited Bulldogs effort.
“The major difference between the two teams was the Panthers ability to execute and turn these opportunities into points. The majority of the Panthers tries were scored from ‘turnover ball’ – there team cohesion and connection the major difference.”
However, with the Bulldogs improved fitness levels, and their confidence levels on a high after last week’s 21-19 win against Arorangi Bears, the Panthers will be on notice for this week.
The Bulldogs players to watch out for are energetic fullback William Rani, busy loose forward Petero Lagilagi and utility backs - brothers Tangi and Brian Akava.
For Panther, the under-rated forward pack led by Davey Mato and Kana Nga and their speedy backline of Tua Ravula and now Peniasi ‘Flash’ Dakuwaqa will be key.
The match will kick off at 4pm. Tomorrow, Avatiu Nikao Eels will battle the Bears.
