Vaka Eiva paddlers unitefor charity

Thirty-four paddlers united for the Vaka Eiva 750-metre Boiler Swim, a charity event that involved swimming out to and around the iconic “boiler” at Avarua Wharf and back.

Dani Adendorff representing Aitutaki reached the shore first in a time of 13.48 minutes, followed by overseas participant, Bram in 13.55 mins, and Rarotonga’s triathlete Roland Neururer third in with a time of 13.59 mins.

The grueling Cook Islands Canoeing Association Vaka Eiva V6 Round Rarotonga Relay Mixed teams oe vaka (paddling) race will start at 8am today at Avarua Wharf. Registrations will open from 6.30am.

The prizegiving awards will be at the Vaka Shed immediately after the last race.

The prestigious Bob Worthington trophy for the Round Raro Race will be presented to the winner on Friday.
