The Cardio Combat (CC) crew will be presenting an energising sweat session this Saturday, January 27, at 6.30am at the Tupapa Centre to support Cook Islands 68-year-old super triathlete Kevin Henderson, who is gearing up for his 19th Ironman New Zealand in Taupō, Aotearoa next month.

Ani Thompson, from CC, said: “Kevin has never fundraised before, with the blessing of Aunty Mona (Mrs Henderson), our Cardio Combat team will be raising funds for him this Saturday.”

“Our team wants to do this because we admire both Kevin and Aunty Mona for all that they do in the fitness community, seeing that they set a great example to all the young and old about learning to love being fit and healthy.”

Cardio Combat, formerly known as Fatburner, was founded by former Cook Islands netball rep, Luciana Nicholas.

The popular fitness programme has been around for over 15 years providing fitness classes to communities in Rarotonga and Aitutaki.

In 2018, Fatburner was officially branded as Cardio Combat. Its devoted instructors lead up to eight classes per week.

“CC is supported by small crew of individuals who freely give up their time for the betterment of the Cook Islands people in our fight against obesity and NCDs (non-communicable diseases),” said Thompson.

The key CC instructors are Luciana Nicholas, Bouchard Solomona, Louisa Purea, Tuaine McPharlin, Jordan McPharlin, and Komera Dean.

Tickets are only $5. The participants will also get a chance to win one of the fantastic prizes up for grabs including one return ticket to Aitutaki.

The theme for the workout session is green and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed, a lucky number draw and for the hardest worker in the room.

The prizes include one return ticket to Aitutaki, $100 Pacific Resort Rarotonga Spa voucher, $100 Pacific Resort Restaurant voucher, $100 Pacific Resort Nail voucher, Soul Café vouchers, Poly Tattoo apparel, Coco House Bros apparel, and WE Bike rental voucher.

There will be spot prizes on the day and nu will be on sale as well. Cardio Combat is a fun way to move to the beat but also incorporate various combat techniques as well as traditional body-weight and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
