The event hosted by the Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee (CISNOC) is part of the annual Olympic Week.
CISNOC’s Richelle Gempton said about 80 kids from Blackrock, Avarua and Nikao preschools took part in the Mini Olympics held between 8.45am and 10.30am.
There
were five different stations for participants which included gymnastics,
athletics, soccer, basketball and throw and target station.
“It was very lively and the kids had a lot of fun,” Gempton said.
On Tuesday, CISNOC held the Ability Games at the stadium. About 70 inclusive education students from Rarotonga schools and the Creative Centre took part in that event.
The Olympic Week will culminate with the Olympic Day Fun Run this afternoon at the Rarotonga Golf Club in Nikao.
There will be three courses – 2 kilometre, 3km and 5km – for participants to choose from.
Gempton said last year they had about 150-200 participants adding “we are looking at anything around 100 to 150 participants this year”.
Registration starts at 3.30pm.
