Members of the community are being encouraged to provide feedback on national sports facilities through a public survey.

Last year, Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC) and Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee (CISNOC) started the process to seek expressions of interest for the naming rights of the National Stadium.

It was decided to firstly refresh the strategic plan for the National Stadium and Indoor Arena, and to refresh the long-term plan for these facilities.

CIIC general manager, Asset Management Division Vasie Ngatoko-Poila says part of this process will be to seek the public’s views on these facilities, to inform the plan, through the Sports Facilities Public Survey.

Following the completion of the strategic plan, potential partners will be sought and engaged to formalise naming and sponsorship arrangements.

“This is your opportunity to have your company name, small business, community group or family group to invest in one or both of our iconic sporting facilities. Leave a lasting legacy to contribute to and promote healthy communities by engaging in a partnership opportunity that suits you,” Ngatoko-Poila says.

“Sponsors of the National Stadium and the National Sports Arena will receive

tremendous exposure to the local population throughout the tenure, as well as to

internationally televised events and online media platforms.”

Further notices and updates will be provided as the project progresses.

Ngatoko-Poila says public feedback is crucial for the continuous improvement of these national sports facilities.

“This will enable CIIC and CISNOC to enhance the overall sports experience and meet the community’s expectations.”

Those who complete the survey will go into the draw to win a weekend staycation for up to four people, a dinner voucher and pizza vouchers worth a total of $1400, sponsored by OTB, Te Puka Estate and Pizzaria Avarua.

One survey entry per person until February 15, 2024.
