Netball Cook Islands (NCI) says the young netball rep follows in the footsteps of previous representatives, the likes of Luciana Nicholas, Elena Mataora and Rochelle Teiri, who were invited to this Singapore competition back in 2018.
Association secretary Tekura Moeka’a praised Tiaore’s selection, saying her talents will enhance the competitiveness of the league.
Singapore Netball is known for its high-profile Netball Super League (NSL) – a competition that handpicks six international players each year to further elevate its calibre, she said.
“These international players are then allocated to the six NSL teams, injecting a global flair into the competition. Nicol’s inclusion is a testament to her exceptional skill set and promise as a netball player.”
Moeka’a said Tiaore’s presence in the Singapore Netball Super League signified a remarkable achievement for not only her but the entire Cook Islands netball community.
“Therefore, this opportunity will enable Nicol to further hone her abilities, expand her experience, and contribute to the sport at an international level.”
Tiaore is scheduled to depart for Singapore on April 14 to begin her journey in the Netball Super League.
She is expected to return on May 14 after a month-long venture that would undoubtedly be filled with gripping netball action and invaluable learning experiences.
Moeka’a said the anticipation surrounding Tiaore’s participation in the Singapore Netball Super League has ignited fervour within the netball circles, with supporters eager to witness her prowess on the international stage.
“As Nicol embarks on this opportunity, she carries with her the hopes and aspirations of her nation, while also paving the way for aspiring netball players in the Cook Islands.
“Her
selection serves as a source of inspiration and motivation for budding talents,
illustrating that with hard work and dedication, they too can make their mark
on the global netball scene.”
Netball Cook Islands has congratulated Tiaore and wished her the best of luck.
