Over the seven days of the tournament the weather has been bizarre for athletes to enjoy their time out on the sand.
Three out of six sports codes were competed over the one week, with the finals for Beach Handball having to be postponed until today.
The competition is open to any age category as we saw many of our youths take the fields last week, showcasing great talent and sportsmanship.
The outstanding colour of uniforms from each team have made it more visible to notice who is who and have brought highlighting colours to the games this year.
Team Black Rock played an outstanding game on Saturday to kick-start the beach games with the sport of netball and claiming Gold for their team.
The Outlaws men's team who won back to back in the beach soccer games took out Gold once again and are now looking forward to their main sport of touch rugby where the likes of Puna Hiro, Nia Remuera, and the Mateariki brothers who are known for their great skill and speed on the sand make a comeback in this year's tournament.
Although a few of their players have moved to other teams and are currently overseas, the team still continued with its same intensity from last year, making it another entertaining year of beach games for all the supporters and spectators.
As the week ended, beach handball took a break on Saturday postponing their finals games, due to the current weather conditions and will resume this afternoon where they will then determine who takes out Gold in the beach handball 2025 beach games.
With a successful first week of the games, we now look forward to another great week of the Cook Islands Beach Games as beach Touch Rugby, beach Basketball and Beach volleyball are set to commence.
