Netball Cook Islands has acknowledged all teams who have participated in the Mixed Netball Competition.

With the final round featuring the semifinals and final next Tuesday, Netball Cook Islands secretary Tekura Moekaa said they have seen the community, including players both new and experienced, support their initiative.

“We started with 10 teams, in the quarter finals we reduced to eight teams as top eight teams progressed, then in the semis and finals we had four teams,” Moekaa said.

“It has been a mixed bag, with some new teams to the Social Netball mix and some teams who have joined all netball initiatives. Netball Cook Islands is appreciative of the teams’ support.”

Moekaa said the competition is two-fold.

“To continue to rebuild and provide a netball platform for our community. This has also been a fundraising opportunity for the National Squad to raise funds for their upcoming international competitions and an opportunity to get court time to fine tune structures.”

Meanwhile Moekaa said the upcoming Nations Cup in Singapore will provide a much-needed court and international experience to the national team leading up to the Pacific Games in November.

Netball Cook Islands and the national squad would like to thank the following teams – Panthers, Shine on Diamonds, Rehab Rolly Pollies, Brew Crew, Lipstick Squad, MFAI, 15%, Pinky and Shine on Pearls.

Netball Cook Islands fundraiser for the teams to the Nations Cup and Pacific Games, Solomon Islands starts today at Punanga Nui Market.
