Mangaia crowned champions of 2022 Cook Islands Games

One of the largest groups in the 2022 Cook Islands Games with over 450 registered members, Mangaia came out in force to the closing ceremony in a wave of maroon to rejoice their sporting achievements at the National Stadium on Saturday

Also known as A'ua'u Enua, Team Mangaia took out the Games Open Trophy with 33 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 23 bronze medals for a total of 248 points.

They also claimed the Games Youth Trophy with 21 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 14 bronze medals for a total of 200 points.

In the closely contested Masters category, it came down to the last cycling event which was held on Saturday afternoon. And there was a tie with the islands of Mangaia and Mitiaro who both ended on 80 points. Mitiaro collected 8 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. Mangaia received 13 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 6 bronze medals. Mangaia wrapped up their 2022 Cook Islands Games at The Edgewater Resort yesterday afternoon.
