The annual Cook Islands Beach Games, which begin today, will feature five sports to be played at the Nikao Beach Courts and The Edgewater Resort and Spa.

The games, which will run for two weeks from January 4 to January 18, 2025, will include competitions in beach football, netball, volleyball, basketball and touch rugby.

Netball will kick off the Cook Islands Beach Games at the Nikao Beach Courts this morning, starting from 11am till 3pm this afternoon.

Brianna Lewis, a representative from organiser Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee (CISNOC), said there would be activities such as spot prizes and treasure hunts happening during the breaks (mostly during the round games).

The event will also feature local DJs entertaining the crowd during the first week, followed by a performance from DJ Keenz, a New Zealand DJ, in the second week of the games.

The Cook Islands Beach Games official opening ceremony will be held at 10am today.
