According to team chef de mission John Paul Wilson, the national aquatics team created a new Cook Islands record and the country’s first qualification in a semi-final.
New Zealand-based Lanihei Connolly clocked 32.77 seconds finishing 13th in the 50 metres Breaststroke. She is scheduled to feature in the semis at 9.19am today.
Kirsten Fisher-Marsters clocked 33.61 seconds finishing 18th.
Bede Aitu clocked 59.77 seconds, finishing 26th in the 100m Backstroke – 0.2s outside the national record he set in Budapest at World Champs.
In 400m Freestyle, Wesley Roberts clocked 4.00.62 minutes. Roberts is scheduled to compete in the 200m Freestyle today and 100m Freestyle on Sunday.
