Thanks for joining me on this historic night! Well done to Moana Pasifika! I'll be back tomorrow with a double header of Super Rugby action, see you then!
For Moana Pasifika, well if they hadn't given away so many penalties they would have won this a lot earlier and more comfortably. There were issues at set piece but they were made up for by crushing defence. Christian Leali'ifano was the cool head that kept the ship heading in the right direction and William Havili was outstanding at fullback.
Absolutely gutting for the Canes, they would have come here with hopes of an easy win and they had a rude awakening with a fired up defensive effort. Peter Umaga-Jensen was very good but he simply didn't have enough support around him to cash in on the chances he was creating.
What an historic night here at Mt Smart!Moana Pasifika with their first ever win in Super Rugby! All the issues they've had to overcome, and they've done it!
WOW, WOW, WOWTHIS TINY CROWD SOUNDED LIKE 50,000 AS TOALA RACED AFTER THE BALL
OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT A FINISH!CANES LOOKED TO HAVE IT UNDER CONTROL BUT IT WAS STRIPPED AWAY BY KOLOMATANGI!SPREAD TO DANNY TOALA AND HE SPOTTED WIDE OPEN REAL ESTATE AT THE BACK, KICKED AHEAD BY THEN HE OUTPACED THE D, HACKED ON AND COLLECTED THE BALL, SCORING IN THE CORNER!
TRY MOANA PASIFIKA!!!THEY WIN IT AT THE DEATH!!!
