What an odd headline last week, “Government misleading”. Isn’t the essence of “news” to tell us something we don’t already know? Every government is misleading.

If they were transparent with what is going on behind closed doors, we’d be chasing them off the island. “Government misleading” is about as newsworthy as “The Pope is Catholic”.

The latest round ball news from CIFA is that the technical department flew a dozen people to Aitutaki from its office to launch a Strategic Plan for Women’s Football. It was a waste of football money as the only people who attended the launch were the staff from CIFA. Rumours are that the head of CIFA administration is still in Aitutaki having a holiday and is planning to return to Raro just in time for the arrival of the OFC staff to oversee the champions league qualifiers this week.

Allan Jensen, the CEO of CIIC, a Crown owned entity, owned by the people, has no right, on behalf of the people of the Cook Islands, to write a letter to the President of ISA from the Cook Island based seabed mining companies and contractors. Allan Jensen should be sacked and removed.

Cook Islands Passport? The problem now is the people just don’t know what Mark Brown really wants and what he is up to? He cannot alone decide for the Cook Islands people, on this important issue. To put this passport enigma to rest, get a National Referendum out to the people for the next 3-6 months and announce the outcome before August.
