Letters: Where’s the line of communication?

Dear Editor, I purchased Vodafone Cook Islands' $19 for 19GB Wi-fi voucher on Friday through the company's phone app.

It is meant to last five days but frustratingly, it expired at midnight on Saturday – a whopping three days early.

This has happened to me two times before.

Both times, I called up the Vodafone office the same day and they were able to extend it to the correct length.

I was not offered any compensation, but I wasn't too worried as I had only lost a few hours.

What options do I have if this happens again? (And considering this is my third rodeo, I have no doubt it will happen again)

It would be ridiculous to expect me to purchase a regular $10 pass until it gets sorted, because Vodafone should not be rewarded with more of my money for letting down their customers once again.

My theory for why this happened is that the app sold me one of the $19 vouchers from Tuesday, which is the only other day of the week this deal is offered. I come to this conclusion because it has been five days since then, so those Tuesday vouchers will have expired by now.

Why does this continue to happen? I can't be the only one affected by this, so why has this glitch not been fixed? Please, Vodafone – what am I meant to do so I'm not put in this position, stranded without connectivity on the weekend?

I also want to raise concern about changes Vodafone has made the price and scheduled days of promotional deals which have led to effectively a 33 per cent increase in prices as well as being cut short on being able to continue with new promotional deals.

(Also, the house where I live is a blind spot for Vodafone's mobile network, so I don't have the option of switching over to their mobile data deals.)

Concerned
