Letter: Vape law enforcement

This week you have reported on the Cook Islander jailed for months for smuggling cannabis into the Cook Islands. And you have reported that there is an ongoing investigation into the possibility that vapes are being offered on-line.

Our Judges are stuck with our antiquated drug laws in respect of the weed that has never given anyone lung cancer and so they’ve locked up a drug mule for a drug that is fully legal in much of the world.

The question is this. Will the anti-vape law be enforced with the same speed and vigour? Will the $100,000 fine be applied if there is a conviction? Will a convicted vape smuggler join the weed smuggler in jail?

Or, will the hypocrisy continue?
