Letter: Prison ‘break’

This writer would appreciate a follow up story from CINews as to whether any heads rolled after the revelations that convicted fraudsters were released from prison to sit with ‘family’ in a certain Arorangi café and to clean the gardens at their Airbnb income property instead of “doing time” for the crime within the prison itself.

Who authorised the release?

What were the consequences to that person or those persons?
Meanwhile, those persons who were responsible should consider the possibility that convicted paedophile Yawea Teophilo be allowed out of prison so that he can enjoy the hospitality of the Rarotonga Golf Club which, conveniently, sits close by the Black Rock Pre-School.
The prison sits on property taken by the Crown and the Golf Club sits on property taken by the Crown for “public use”.

So it must make more sense for prisoner day-release to Crown land than to private income-producing property. King Charles owns the prison land as well as owns the golf course land. Let’s keep our prisoners on Crown land.
