When Prime Minister Mark Brown said in your Thursday paper that for medicinal cannabis to be imported into the country, he needs Crown Law to have appropriate legislative change ready for the December sitting of Parliament.
That is not correct.
The one single and simple fact is through Executive Order marijuana can be removed as a prohibited substance under the Drugs Act in order for the medical purpose of its importation, exportation, possession, production, manufacture, processing, supply, administration and cultivation by individual and commercial grower
It's all right there in black and white in the Narcotics and Misuse of Drugs Act 2004 and the Amended Act of 2009. It's undeniable.
And all of this could have taken place over a year ago.
